Just Add Breath

Not sure how this was done but I like it. The wood tones on the recorder (I'm not a musical instrument expert) are nice and warm and very appealing to me. The diagonal composition is great. The overlayed musical notes adds a nice dimension and completes the 'package' the image presents. The matching border is good, although I'm almost tempted to say a little too bright - a duller yellow picked from the darker yellow area of the recorder may have been better.

This is cute! First thing I noticed was the background - I liked the mix of black/white and how the line is not harsh but blurred/faded nicely. The shadows beneath the statue/eggs are also cute, much better there than falling off to the side, front, or back. The lighting is excellent, not overexposing the whites at all (that I can see) and yet still being bright enough to be very clear and sharp. The light highlights on his shoes are also good! Of course the fact that the subject you have chosen is also humorous, clever, and original (to me) helps, but your photographic treatment of them is great.

I can see where you are trying for dramatic lighting, but the shadows on the right are just a little too dark and as such distract from the overall mood. Perhaps a soft light on the right could have lightened up that area just a little. As a still life goes, this is something different for me, but it works well. The contrasts on the book is good, it's just the background that could have done with a ltitle more tweaking. Overall it's a good shot.

This has such a great mood! The tones are wonderful, the use of sepia ages it nicely. The play of light/shadow is dramatic, the softness adds to the image of the teddy. No negatives that I can see, just wonderful!

I love the simplicity of this! And what an unusual item to see on a plate too. It's so off the wall and different I think it stands out the most. Who would have thought a chicken bone on a plate would look so 'pretty'. Great photo!

There has been a lot of desat with one color photos recently, and I think that has made those type of images not have the usually high impact they can normally have. However, this is certainly more than just a desat with one color photo. The black/white background and square dish is certainly what makes this stand out. The leaves of the pineapple going off into the black is good too. The fruit arrangement is good, but I dont know, just something doesnt feel right about it. It's sharp, clear, clean, clever. I like it!

Street lights - still life

Wow, those fruit are shiny! I really like the idea, it's very neat. Visually it's good, and clever. Technically it could be corrected with spot editing after the challenge. A few of the things I see that could, ideally, be changed are the light reflections on the apples and the light on the background near them. I assume the lighting for this was an overheard with a maglite (or similar) aimed at each of them? I hard similar problems when I was shooting an apple too! They can be very tough, esp the really shiny kind. I like this, bonus points for creativity!

The image is sharp, composition is good, the lighting reflections arent too overly distracting. The top white looks like it has a little noise, but nothing too drastic, and there is a dark place that looks like it could have once been a shadow. Overall it's a good shot.

This isnt the usual definition of still life, nor does it really say 'still' at all, it has obvious movement. Having the date stamped on the picture also makes it look a lot like a snapshot.

This is humorous, which can be good. The inside of the orange is a little too bright, but the reflections on the glass seem minimum, although it also seems a little tilted. I'm not sure if you were going for the browned apple look, but I know they can do that after a while and usually lemon juice can help it stop browning up as quick if you werent. There are a few white specks on the background too, but in the 'normal' world those would have been easy to clean up with spot editing. It's not technically the best, but the unusual subject makes it stand out more.
