this picture is, in my opinion, the most classic and archetypical symbol of still life. black and white, intellectual, great lighting, perfect focus. this picture could benefit from a larger resolution and maybe a slightly brighter filter, but i'll give you the 10 for being the only person to take a classic, almost cliched example and breathe it to life.

I can see where you are trying for dramatic lighting, but the shadows on the right are just a little too dark and as such distract from the overall mood. Perhaps a soft light on the right could have lightened up that area just a little. As a still life goes, this is something different for me, but it works well. The contrasts on the book is good, it's just the background that could have done with a ltitle more tweaking. Overall it's a good shot.

Lighting is excellent. I like how the open book is highlighted. Also like that the light coming from the top left leads your eyes toward the books on the shelf. It helps to hightlight the titles of some of the books. "10"

I would have liked to see more of the other books... just a hint of light.

one of my faves - could be based in a time a few hundred years ago - natural light is great

ligthing good
the empty space on the left side of the photo could be cut off right at the end of the first book
black and white works well here

I like this shot, being inclined toward literature and classic and antique books myself. The lighting is nice and the wooden platform aswell, but I'm wondering about having two books, one on top of the other like that. It kind of takes away from the reverence, though the lighting strikes it more clearly. 9
