Defeatedby atomicshedComment: Excellent job on the DOF. Great depiction of both the 'joy of victory and the agony of defeat'. One of my favorites for this challenge. |

Developmental Failureby cyanComment: That's NOT failure... That's dinner for the scavengers and bugs. :) A well captured depiction of the sometimes grusome reality of life. This would make a great "still life" entry.... or would that be "still death"??? |

The Resultsby amandaloreComment: Perfect porcelain portraiture pose. The single side lighting adds drama and impact conveying the mood of gloom and despair. Very well done! |

DeNestedby Bernard_MarxComment: GRUESOME!! But, then again so is life sometimes. Sharpness and detail are right on as well as color and contrast. |

may be not todayby LatteComment: Everything works but the border. Too large an distracting IMO. I like everything else about the shot though. Fits the challenge well. |

Defeated..by agwrightComment: The detail in this image is fantastic. The title and the shot is perfect for this challenge. The DOF and darkbackground add great impact to the photo. I find the arrangement of the opposing chess pieces both rythmic and pleasing to the eye, however very unrealistic in the end game of a chess match. I would like to see a shot with the pieces in more realistic positions to compare the two. I am rating this one high. |

Hard habit to breakby admajicComment: My choice for a definite top 10 finish. Composition, lighting, color and DOF are all right on the money. Well done! |
