::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Its a pity I am an ex-smoker .. I can still smell the stuff.

Composition:
Works for this picture.

Subject:
meets the challenge well and truly.

Technical (Colour and light):
Great colour and good use of DOF ... I like that the fags in the background are out of focus as this gives a great impression of trying to quit and failing.

To grow its vote?:
hard to say .. this type of shot works for some and not others ...

Summary:
I think this is a great second entry .. you have a good eye .. keep using it.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via
the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Nice choice of DOF, works well here in isolating the subject from an appropriate backround.

Try out a b&w version too.
Nice DoF brings out the subject from the backgroung.
I would have left more place on the left and not put the cigarette in the middle, I think it would be more comfortable for the eye.

My choice for a definite top 10 finish. Composition, lighting, color and DOF are all right on the money. Well done!

great detail on such a small subject but the background somehow takes away form the image

Great composition and nice lighting. I also like the depth of field use, but I'd really like to see the back of the ash tray focused and the cig pack left out of focus. I know...too picky. Nice capture and great concept.

Great idea..and good photo. Your cigarette doesn't blend well with the background though.

Rich tones, spot-on focus, and a great subject. I like it! :)
