One person's desolation is another person's paradise. âLet me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London Iâll show you something to make you change your mindâ or Brooklyn where canalas are so polluted they catch fire.

Surreal, hypnotic, enlightened. These things come to mind. No sense of desolation is evoked or depicted. But IMO it is a clever photo which has its uses.

One of the very few landscapes in this challenge which does have a sense of desolation about it.

Peaks (attaintment of goals), blue sky (clean air and freedom), lush forests (virgin lands). Come to Brooklyn and I will show you canals that catch fire they are so polluted. âLet me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London Iâll show you something to make you change your mindâ

A fine animal, noble in its domain, caught, caged, and forgotten. A sense of desolation is evoked.

This is very, very far from being desolate. Come to Brooklyn and I will show you canals so polluted they catch on fire.

It is a great photo but what has it got to do with desolation? Wonderful tones but to this viewer they do not evoke the feeling of desolation. Lovely silhouette, but no symbolism related to desolation, IMO.

This does say desolation quite well. The tone used is effective.

Comment:
Yes, a bit desolate indeed. It does evoke that feeling and captures the literal meaning. The colours do not work against the desolation as they do in many of the other images entered in this challenge.
