Love the colours you get in your photos. Each country seems to have a colour associated with it. Australia is dry, red, rust. Spain seems to have a rich, earthy red colour. That's probably simplifying the story a lot. This picture reminds me of the British artist Joseph Mallord William Turner. His work concentrated on light almost exclusively. I like the painterly effect that you and some other photographers manage to get.

Could this be in England. Droughts must be going on all over the world. Although the trees look well textured you have managed to portray desolation in my opinion.

The clouds make a nice backdrop to the sculpture. The effect of the sculpture is to evoke a sense of desolation and your framing it with clouds has enhanced that feeling.

Nice colours which enhance the sense of desolate buildings from a past age.

This looks like the type of desolation left by open-strip mining. The b/w or is it duotone enhances that feeling of malnourished landscape.

Sanitized arty desolation. I say this after seeing a couple - and there are very, very few photos in this challenge which either depict or evoke sights or feelings of desolation. A chained dog in a bad way, a girl pining for a dead mother - these are real heart-rending images of desolation which evoke feeling. So you can understand why I say your image is sanitized. But it is still an excellent photo very pleasing to look at. 8.

Good photo depiction of desolation. Perhaps the best I have seen so far. It also evokes the feeling of desolation.

Very nice photo without doubt. Not too bad for desolation either.

The right hand window makes this image. Blue sky and cloud, like a far away dream to the man on the steps. Him in his own depressing world of troubles; the real world in all its divine glory only a lift of the head away. Very good juxtaposition if one sits and thinks a little. I missed it first time - lucky I cam back...
