Week 5by chris48083Comment: Layers is what I consider here. The facial layer; the background layer. The distances apart, the depth of field, the techniques of taking such a photo. The loss of colour to accentuate the face. The asymmetry of the facial features parallel with the asymmetry of the composition. Use of gentle tones and softer lines is also something I note. |

Sugarbeet Factoryby BAMartinComment: Puddles provide repetition of element in ones picture and you remind me that they contribute greatly to a photo composition. It's hard sometimes to get the puddle to reflect what one might want it to but, like a mirrored wall in a room, it opens up an otherwise impenetrable plane. I learn something of elements available in the photographer's visual toolbox from your photo. |

Wk-4_B&W-Side-Challenge.jpgby twmaxComment: You remind me that clouds are accentuated even more when a photo taken with a polarizer is converted to b/w. An off-centre vanishing point and bright sunlight are also useful tools to use. |

Chaosby Bruce_the_RobertComment: The unexpected, something that creates not just good, competent photos, but makes for exceptional images. In your case the quick decision you made to photograph in the rain behind glass gave the opportunity an exceptionally interesting image to come about. I learn that from you that relinquishing total control can lead to much better photos. |

Week 4: The Entertainerby jasonlpriceComment: Foreground framing within a context is what I learned from your well executed photo. The intimate is always something worth looking at. |

200108.jpgby ingridblueComment: I know where this is - read the news on the BBC about that freighter sinking. If it had been whisky barrels the beach would have been a bit cleaner (and the town a bit muckier)... ;-) |

My Space Contre Jourby david_cComment: It is what it is - a lovely moment in time, a series of semi-revealed silhouettes, gleaming molten metal on water. IMO, what it is not is a subject for revealing detail in the buildings via HDR processing. This is a natural look which the human eye and mind recognize. HDR is not and IMO does little to help an image (unless it is used for forensic police work). It's a nice photo. |

The Old Guard by MatthewComment: Nice point of view. Looks almost as if it is taken from the Shell Building.. |
