The Bearded Ladyby ellamayComment: A very nice macro shot, a closer crop might be more powerful, though I do like the inclusion of his natural habitat. |

An eye on the cider press.by jjbeguinComment: The lighting and shadows contrast well. The use of negative space also focuses the attention on the man's face and cup. The only suggestion I have is to darken the cup a little so as not to draw attention away from the eye. My gaze is drawn first to the cup due to its luminence (spelling?) within the scene. |

The Blue Windowby aKiwiComment: I really like the simplicity here, both with the subject and colors. Nice work |

Solitudeby ZoomdakComment: The ripples in the water add a nice texture to this shot. There are three elements that draw my attention: the sky, the rock, and the water. As the water is the most unique element in the shot, I'd like to see a crop wherein the water occupies the bottom 2/3 of the shot, or a horizon more biased to either the top or bottom of the frame. If the rock was dead center, it would play well with the vertical symmetry. That said, this is a lovely subject. The moon and its reflection are nice touches as well. |

Fallby ursulaComment: The lighting and sky really offset and bring out the gold in the trees here. I really can't critique this, well done. |

The Kozakby smokeditorComment: Color and tone are expressed well here. The blue adds a nice impact. Including more of the background might better show the environment (it stands very well as a portrait, but imho, I would like to see more |

The Walkby L1Comment: This is a powerful image. The sepia tones and the soft/surrealness of the background are wonderful touches. Not sure if this was intended, but the telephone pole resembles a cross. This strengthens the composition and also adds (to me) a religious theme - also tied in with the innocense of youth and the walk down the road. I don't know if thats what you were going for, but that's what the image speaks to me. It invokes emotion. 10 |
