Rainy Dayby sunflowerComment: This is very centered, not an extremely appealing subject... and hard to tell if anything is really in focus... plus you have a blue line sorrounding the flower, did you try to push the saturation... not sure what would cause this, but I feel the photo looks like you took paints and painted it. I'm not big on a lot of post shot adjustments. |

Basidiomycota by crabappl3Comment: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for not going out and taking a picture of wildflowers, or going and buying them at the store! THANKS! I love this pic... the one mushroom that is best lit is also best in focus, and you can really see the detail. It really stands out! I love it! Nice job with DOF, use of natural light, and subject! Perfect 10!! |

Round Red Ring of Piby GeocideComment: Critique Club
Hi Geocide - I really think the your color entry was much more effectual than this one, even though they were of the same items...
Did you just crop substantially in on a similar photo to the other? That's how it looks to me because of the extreme graininess of the photo. Thats hard to deal with sometimes, but it's something to think about. I think it fit the challenge pretty well... it definitely had the circle in there (which is awesome for pi) and I think it was an interesting shot with multi layers. Lighting isn't bad... and I like the DOF... The colors of the photo are kind of dull... but otherwise it's not really bad, just not extremely appealing to me.
This is a very different photo... somewhat interesting but not my style. We all have our own opinions. Best of luck!

BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely love this photo... nice job Sher, I think it should have scored much higher.
Positives - As a photo, this is absolutely beautiful... nice job with the soft focus and good cropping (I personally think) I like how the green offsets the pink, and I don't think it would have fit the challenge if it wasn't for that. I know some people counted down because it wasn't extremely bright and or saturated, but I think it fit the challenge perfectly..,. hey there are colors there, and beautiful ones at that! Great lighting and use of DOF. I really think this is just extremely well done!
Negatives - I'm not crazy about the border, but thats just a personal thing... The brown streak in the bottom left hand corner (prolly a leaf) is somewhat distracting and detracts from the beauty. Some of the extra little brownish green things coming in on the left are a little distracting. These are all very nitpicky things though...
Overall I think you did a wonderful job! Keep up the good work, I think this photo is truly beautiful (frame it and hang it on the wall! ;-) ) Cheers!

Four Corner Standoffby DougPazComment: Critique Club
Positives - Good use of color on this photo... you definitely fit the challenge, and made it eye appealing and interesting, yet plain and simple. Contrary to normal rules of photography this photo works quite well the way it is centered... and I like the fact you didn't make it square as that would have made it too simple and the extra width makes you take a second to look more closely at the photo. The color combos you used are interesting and not what you would expect to see, which adds to the photo as a piece of art and personal rather than just a photo of 4 balls on opposite colors or whatever. Very nice job on focusing, nice and clear... and good job spacing looks pretty equal to me!
The not so positives - as mentioned in some of your comments I would have tried to make the light a little less harsh, and tried to not have the shadows that you have. I like the seems on the balls, but to be nitpicky the yellow seam is not pointing directly towards the center and is slightly crooked... this makes it look as though (though you prolly didn't) you just plopped them down haphazardly... this is a little detail that people at DPC will count down for whether we like it or not. The one other thing I see is that (without taking a ruler to it) the yellow side looks slightly larger than the purple side.
Otherwise nice job. Good use of color, nice and bright with a simple pattern that is eyepleasing and not very distracting. Interesting photo. Good luck in the future!

Abstract and cliche!by SonifoComment: Awesome leading lines... even the bubbles form a line. I'm usually not really into the abstract, but I think in this case it lends a very interesting look at what could be a somewhat boring photo. -10- |

One-woman-and-her-dogby FreebieComment: The lines really don't lead to your subject, I don't think I would have even seen her, if it wasn't the title of the photo. IMHO the main part of this subject is the fence or benches whatever those are... the woman is so lost, because she is dark, and the fence is bright which automatically grabs your attention. I don't think this fits the challenge. Sorry. |

ColorRamaby AntithesisComment: I'm not really sure what lines your trying to specify as they are all over the photo. IMHO none of the lines really lead to the subject as I don't even know what the subject is. Interesting photo, but to me this doesn't fit the challenge. |

flag on brooklyn bridgeby tomzinhoComment: This definitely fulfills the challenge, however technically the picture could have been better. Getting down and really filling the frame would have been nice, as it is, the picture is very very centered, which isn't extrelmely pleasing to the eye... if anything I would have cropped off some of the clouds. Good subject though. |

Fragileby dsidwellComment: I have to ask whether this is commenting on just the eggs, and you wanted to put this on a cool background, or whether you think the state of America is fragile? Just curious, because this can be construed in two ways. nice pic though... your getting a 9 from me :-) |
