All at Seaby babylonComment: Based on previous comments there are obviously those who appreciate the dark nature of this image. To me, it just seems like an under-exposed photo. But, you got some 10's... so what do I know? |

Blissby medoComment: One of the most common comments I make on this site is the need for a focal point or primary subject... something that the observer is naturally drawn to. IMHO, many landscape photos seem to lack this. You have a nicely colored sky and ocean contrasted against a texture shoreline, which is great. But, now you need something to draw the viewer in. Even a tiny sailboat anchored off in the distance between the Jetty and the mountains in the background would be enough (I use this for illustration purposes... I'm not suggesting you should have broken the rules and added something after the fact). Hope you find this useful. |

A Summer Sunriseby TammerComment: What is your primary subject in this image? I find my eyes jumping from the ducks, to the sun, to the reflection of the tall tree, to the grass in the foreground, and back to the ducks. The color balance is really nice (subtle), but I'm not sure I like the composition for the reason above. |

In The Alpsby WawaaComment: Nice colors in the sky and the mountains, but I find that the dark forground distracts from the subject. Message edited by author 2006-02-01 11:01:26. |

Backyard snowby agrimaceComment: This was one of my favorites. Nice moody, subtle tones. Deserved much better than 275th, IMHO. |

Dahlia IVby banmornComment: This is one of a few in this challenge that I can't figure out why it didn't place much higher. The DOF is perfect and the color balance is just enough to give it life without overdoing it (something I feel like is too often done with floral shots). |

Wineby AngelisComment: I think this should have ranked much higher than 166th. I can't find anything wrong with this image. The lighting and use of space is spectacular. Maybe the subject wasn't interesting enough for the voters. I gave it a 10. |

Jenniferby elsapoComment: I'm glad to see this one did well in the contest. I REALLY liked it (gave it a 10), but I was afraid it might get lost with all the other portraits. Well done!!! |
