IMG_1064-Edit.jpgby pidgeComment: Interesting composition and I love that sky. If I had to change something, I'd saturate it rather then pull the color away. |

Abandonmentby pidgeComment: While I think your point of focus is a touch soft, I really like the concept and execution of this photo. It speaks to me. |

_MG_1500.jpgby jan_vdwComment: This is much better composition and positioning on the field. However I wish it were a bit tighter, need to get you a 300 or 400mm lens! My eyes keep searching for the ball?(is that what they use?) as I feel just slightly ahead of this capture is where the peak of that part of this play occurred. |

#2 - Blokartby hajekaComment: This is an outstanding shot......except I dont like the cut off sail. Otherwise great job of panning. |

IMG_4525.jpgby ZippyComment: This image has some potential. However it just seems overly soft, not sure if its done from soft focus or if the resizing is the issue. Either way would be a very strong image if it were sharp. |

_MG_1068.jpgby jan_vdwComment: This is one game I have never understood. Of course I dont think its played much in these parts, so whats happening in the frame I cant comment on. What I can say is I cant see any face or emotion in the shot. I'd suggest a different vantage point to see a face. I had a 40D for a few weeks and while its no 1 series the noise was better then I expected. Of course properly exposed my 20D and 30D were both very usable at 1600ISO.

Serious funby MaggyeComment: I think you have two things going against you here, but you also did alot right!
Here is what you did right.........the angle and the moment are very good, the intensity of the surfer is right there, I can feel it. Good colors as well.
What is hurting you......reach, it generally takes 500-600mm to shoot surfing and not have to crop so much that you lose detail. I also think that either a faster shutter, or slower shutter would work better, I'm not sure if its the amount of cropping that makes this effect of not stopped, or if the SS was just a touch low. I'd also recommend slowing down the shutter speed, stopping down and panning a bit. Its tough to do and the angle you do it at is important, but has an awesome effect. Good start keep them coming. |
