In The Beginning

The universe is a marble and 'God' is a big wooden figure. I can relate : )

On a serious note, I like that the figure and desaturation means that 'God' is portrayed as having no discernable gender, race, or colour.
Photo-wise, the composition, focus/DoF and exposure (especially the blown out area on the left side of the marble) are all spot on. Not 100% sure about the yellow, would be interesting to play about with hue-shifting that. Still, gotta give this full marks.

I preferred your entry. For me it's the lighting that made that shot, and it just doesn't seem as effective in this one. Still, very moody, and very good.

Big bonus points for the HHGTTG reference ; )
The composition is a little 'spaced out' (ouch, bad pun alert!) for me. Personally I would have placed the rock on the paper to try and tighten things up. The reflected light on the glass is also something I would have tried to get rid of.
