This was a fun shot. I guess I am getting a bit more predictable. This shot of course was set up with my Alien Bee 400 as a keylight. Strobe from above with 20 Degree honeycomb mounted to the refector. Had to use the timer because I was the one holding the ornament (Yes that is my hand) Had a piece of white paper below the ball to add more to the edge at the bottom. Overall I am pleased with this shot. It is nice and clear and I like it. It has a dramatic type of look to it. Enjoy

Have a good day all

Greetings from the Critique Club!

I concur with all of the positive statements below!

I'm excited because this was one of my favorite shots of this challenge! This is an image full of drama and has a real magic to it, I feel. The point of view with the fingers coming at the viewer is very engaging and adds a lot of interest. It is also a unique photo, and has a lot of originality.

Your careful attention to lighting really paid off here. The ball is well lit, and the colors are intense. A few mentioned the glare on the ball, and I don't mind glare if it serves a function; this glare gives the glass ball some intense highlights that help define it and also adds more drama to the shot. If it were not there, I don't think the shot would work as well. I suppose you could experiment and see how it looks by burning it a little.

The composition really works. An object this exciting certainly deserves to be front and center!

Wonderful stuff--an excellent shot in a very competitive challenge! Keep up the good work!

Great shot. Composition reminds me of Setz's egg shot, which is no bad thing.

Such a shame about the glare on the top right of the ball. Could have scored really highly without that... Score: 7

Beautiful composition. The lighting and the shadows really make the hand and ball pop out of the picture. Incredible details in the hand. You can see the fingerprints off of the fingers. Wow. Love the glow of color in the bottom of the sphere.

good composition and pretty decent lighting although you should have tried to reduce the big hotspot on the ball

Greetings... This is a great shot. This is the kind of 'abstract' that I like in photography. The subject itself is not abstract but the theme behind it is. This looks like a giant hand of divine nature reaching out from within the cosmos and grabbing an unsuspecting planet :) Very nice work :) = 10

Not bad there Turbo...though you might want to try a softbox over those Alien Bees to tone down that hotspot on the ball. I like the idea though...
