Timid by elsapoComment: The colors are absolutely rich and vibrant where they need to be. Love how you have a range of beautiful rich greens in differnt shades and tones in this composition. The slight spotlight that illuminates the chameleon is wonderful! It serves to illuminate the background just behind it creating a warm, rich green 'glow' on your subject all the while perfectly lighting the lovely greens & details of this lizard. The square crop is a nice addition too because it keeps attention tightly focused on your main subject. |

Awesome x 2 !!by SandyPComment: A very nice portrait shot of these two sisters. I like how the composition is set up where they are laying with heads together but from opposite directions. To me, this communicates that they may be sisters but they are two individuals with different interests, likes, and dislikes. The tonal colors on their skin is wonderful and the illumination/lighting is very good too - no shadows all even lighting. My only critique on this photo is that the girl on the left has placed her hand on her shoulder which breaks up the compositional symmetry of the photo. |

Country Farmby igoofryComment: This has a slight soft focus on the composition as a whole which gives it a soft, dreamy and surreal feel & mood. Love how you included the curved country road in this composition. For as I view it, I get the feel of traveling down the country road and discovering this lovely view of this lovely red barn surrounded by the wonderful greens of the countryside. |

Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice...by btuckComment: Happy, carefree, childhood days just spend laying in the grass at the park is what this photo communicates to me. The pose of the little girl with her feet raised & crossed and her laying in the grass with head resting in her hands is a classic pose that communicates a carefree moment just enjoying the breezy summer/spring day. I like the sepia look for it adds a nostalgic look and feel to it. And by far it is that wonderful and adorable SMILE that makes this photo such a feel good & happy one. Great shot - bumping up from 7 to 9 to move it into the exceptional good category. |

Brotherly Loveby chrissycampbellComment: First off this is an adorable shot showing sibling love. Lighting is good and the color hues are soft in tone conveying a the mood of a tender moment. I like the added touch of the boy on the right holding his sister's hand. Compositionally this is good but could be even better. The reason? The boy on the right's kiss on his sister's head is lost behind her bow. And the boy on the right kiss is not as visible as it could be. Had both boys heads been in profile perfectly symmetrical on either side of their sister's forehead it would FURTHER capture a enduring moment where all facial features of everyone in the shot is wonderfully visible. |

Raindropsby BeckyTComment: I really like the simple, clean and elegent presentation of this composition. It has all the right elements for a visually appealing image but it suffers from lack of good illumination. The vibrancy of colors sometimes can be an important component in creating a visually appealing image with some 'wow' factor. The hue of the green leaf could be more vibrant and bold such that it 'pops' visually off the black & blue spots of the background. As it is in the image it appears flat and dark. With right illumination, the hue of the leaf could be rich, bold and vibrant in color without losing the detail of the texture of the leaf. |

The Amusement Parkby rjksteschComment: What I like about this photograph is the sense of movement & light of the wheel in the foreground AND the circular shapes present in both the foreground & background. The colors are vibrant and rich. The composition as it stands now I would rate just as average but the image does have potential to move into the above average as that it has many appealing elements to it. Shapes, color, movement are all there but what is detracting in the composition is the inclusion of the people at the bottom of the image. That added element takes attention away from the main attraction/main focus of your image which are the two wheels dominating the scene. Crop the people out of the composition and you really have a visually appealing nighttime scene of the amusement park rides. |

Boat Harbour By Nightby coolblueComment: The photo as it stands here looks too busy with all the bright lights, the boats and the reflections on the water. There is no focal point or main focus for the eye to take notice off. Looking at the title of the piece I see that it was supposed to be a sweeping waterscape at night which does not truly require a main focal point because it is meant to be a pleasing scene depicting night on the waterfront. Problem is, that there is too much light that this does not at all appear as a nighttime scene. The pleasing lights illuminating the boats at night is just not there in this composition. It looks more like an overcast day or early morning given the amount of light and the detail of the sky. It appears that you may have used an a larger aperature opening to let in alot of light & a longer exposure time. My recommendation is to use a smaller aperature setting and shorter exposure time to get a nighttime capture. Use Bracketting - which is basically shooting the same scene but with different aperature setting for each exposure - to determine what setting works best for this scene. Also if you are going to shoot in low lighting conditions that require a longer exposure time it is recommended that you have a tripod so that the image is sharp in detail and not blurry. |

Poised Pursuitby rileyComment: First I like that you captured the action of this bird poised to strike. However, compositionally, the angle from which it was taken in does not capture this bird or action in the best light. The angle was taken too much from an angle behind the bird with the results being that the bird's hind end is more visible AND (more importantly) that the action of the bird poised is broken up by the branch 'disconnecting' his head from his neck. A composition that is taken from an angle that shows the bird in side profile would not break up the action and show off the bird in a more flattering angle, especially the upstretched wings ready to take flight/pounce. |

Earl in Dreamlandby deanaComment: I think I can see what you wanted to portray in the composition. A ghostly dreamland that the dog, Earl, wanders into. I get the feeling from the title it is supposed to be serene and otherworldly. The thing is that it looks too much like an overprossessed negative that would not at all be visually appealing to most viewers. The mood of the piece is more spooky, errie, haunting and threatening instead of a serene "dreamland" - that comes mostly from the dark colors and 'burnt' look of the composition. If you were trying to get a dreamy look, then a soft focus would be one way to go. One suggestion is to use layers. First copy the whole image, make another layer, and place that copy directly over your original. Then change the layer copy from Normal to Overlay at 10 to 30%. Lastly choose Gaussian Blur for the layer copy and play around with how much will get you a soft focus 'otherworldly glow'. Depending on the size of the image it may be small as .50 to larger sizes that require a setting of 3 or 5 to get the look. |
