No Longer A Mystery by Samantha_TComment: Voted earlier in the day, coming back to comment now. Excellent processing on this composition! It really, truly looks like Tinkerbell has been trapped in that glass. Pose of the model is spot on ; projecting the emotion of despair and feeling trapped. Lighting is great and the green glow on Tink is a nice touch that adds to the magic. |

Between Heaven and Earth by MaryOComment: Voted earlier in the day, coming back to comment now.
Absolutely stunning!!! Indeed this crane is floating between the layers of heaven and earth. Excellent find and beautifully captured and composed. Love the delicate pastel hues of the clouds reflected on the water. The pose of the bird looks as if he/she is dancing. Great, great work - I truly hope this lands a spot in the top three. |

Storm Front by tangueraComment: Hey, look who captured a blue! Congrats Johanna - your model takes on an aspect of a storm goddess in this shot. She lifts her hand and the storm winds blow. The scarf partually obscures her face but I think that just adds to the mystery of her. We do not need to gaze into her eyes for we can see the power she holds. Great smoke work in that it takes on the look of a storm about to brew. The bold and vibrant colors of yellow and green really pop off the background. The colors are captivating. |

One Softbox Only by AllenPComment: The light falls softly upon your model illuminating her beautifully. You are well on your way to achieving your goal for the New Year's resolution Allen (and I see that you have changed your user name towards going professional in the direction). Also you have an excellent mix of colors in the composition the white of the hat and the reds in the fan & top really pop visually off the black backdrop. Congratulations on your well deserved yellow. |

Stars will show the wayby AllenPComment: ...and the sky full of stars. Amazing when you get away from all the light pollution of the city how many stars fill the sky. It's a humbling experience that you are just a small part of the universe...and at the same time you are left breathless at the beauty of the heavens above. This fully captures that feel of standing outside and looking up at the heavens. |

It's in the catchlightsby AllenPComment: I absolutely love the play of light - from the shadows & highlights on the face and hair to stunning catchlights in the eyes. Simply great work here. |

The Untold Storyby AllenPComment: Interesting how the two main characters in this scene are looking at 'someone'. You have the man in the backdrop smiling looking at the woman. The woman is seated at the vanity table looking at herself in the mirror. I know what she sees but is she happy with what she sees is the mystery. He obviously is given the smile. This could me a still straight out of a movie. There is more to this story that we wait to unfold. Very well done in composition and lighting Allen - congratulations on the 4th place (I know, bit late but better late than never right:-) ). |

A Fine Dayby AllenPComment: Way to think out side the box but still coloring in the lines! Love the different spin on the typical tilt shift. Nice details on this city block. Oh look! It even has a miniature China Town. |

An Early Peaceful Morningby AllenPComment: The scene is indeed very tranquil. Soft hues and soft focus. It is almost impressionistic especially in the trees. However, there is one spot that appears more in focus - the horse in front. When I look specifically at that one, the rest of the horses that appear behind it appear staggered in depth. The effect is almost 3-D. |

“All Fur Coat and No Knickers” by Peter Guttridgeby MacDonaldComment: I love challenges like this where you learn something if one just spends the time - just learned what this phrase means -----------. The subject is dressed all in white (white being symbolic for purity) and looks the picture of innocence. But the title reveals all is not so. Lighting on the subject is soft complimenting the soft nature of the fur and also invoking the thought this lady is a soft/gentile creature...akin to a swan (I sometimes think Swan Lake and the woman in the frame is a ballerina) While there is an overall softness to the image to give that sense of dainty/gentile nature, I still at times hunger for more detail in the hair and lashes (processing seems that it has been smoothed) |
