Great shot, and I love the powerlines (again); they are such a good part of what is going on in the image, and I like the angle they provide, as well.

I (like everyone else, it seems) like the star effect; but I also really like the power/phone lines. This is what you see in the morning, and the lines are part of that. I think they give the image a great dimension, giving something to the top which otherwise might otherwise have been a bit empty ('cause it's morning and nothing's going on in the sky).

Great image, with nice tones and excellent use of fog; NJ is "The Garden State", after all! Maybe keeping the fence, but focusing beyond it instead would have worked for this (I like the context the fence provides).

I really like the desat here, too; did you do this "by hand"? I'm still learning selective desat, and I find it takes me forever, and I probably wouldn't have done the leaves for just that reason (though, IMHO, it makes the image really stand out). I'm actually glad you kept the full height of the image; to my eyes, there's a different feel in each vertical third of the photo which is very pleasing to me.

My daughter's only 20 months, but I hope when she has a boyfriend, he's helpful like Matt -- though I've told my wife our daughter isn't allowed to date until she's 30 ;)

As for making pics look nice, that's not always necessary; do you like your surroundings? Try to convey why to us, even if it's not "nice" in some traditional/narrow notion (though I won't encourage you to submit such shots to challenges, as that sort of thinking seems to be punished here).

Nice shot, looks like a cool dog ("oh, alright, I'll post again; geez, it's tough being beautiful"); I like the shallow DoF, too, and the nice earth tones in the ground (guess that's why they call them earth tones).

I like the color shots better, too, I think, though I'm a big B&W fan. The post here on the left breaks up the image for me; the fence sort of leads to it, but it's more of a distraction for me than an attaction. But like JD said, that's just my opinion!

The re-edit is maybe a bit better (for darkness), but the original also has its merits; very shallow DoF can work well (I did it on my fences entry), but you need to have something interesting about the pattern of the fence (which you do here, so the shallow focus works here for me). I like it!

Wonderful image; reminds me of a war scene (so long as I pretend the snow is smoke); what is that on the right by the tree? Looks like a table and chairs (if you use your imagination a bit) - what a strange sight that would be!

I'm surprised, almost disappointed, that this didn't do better for you. I really like it (it was one of my top picks this challenge); the skin tone doesn't bother me at all (I know lots of women with light/pale skin, and don't think skin has to be tan to be beautiful). I also like the unique take on the challenge, and I think the dark blue contrasts nicely with your wife's light skin and the red background.
