Cherry Topperby ClickNSeeComment: *Critique Club*
YUMMY!! Man, I want some ice cream now!! I love what you chose to take a picture of. My few suggestions would have been to have more light and tone down the hot spot. I think that it needs to be present because you can see that it is smooth and shiny. I love the background, however, I wish there was more detail in the ice cream and hot fudge. Overall-I think that this is a nice shot. And the reason I feel that it is not GREAT for this challenge is because a cherry has no texture to it. It looks the same real close up as it does from a normal distance. There is nothing revealed by the camera that you can't see for yourself. I think what makes a GREAT macro is when the camera has zoomed in sooo much that textures and colors are noticed only by your image and not right away by your eye. I hope this was helpful, I'm trying to get better at this. Good luck to you and God Bless.

1 CD, 2 Drops, 3 o'clock, 4 Lampsby carodaniComment: *Critique Club*
This is different. I think that the reason you received low scores is because it lacks "oomph". You know what I mean? Water drops are a great choice for the challenge. I like the way you incorporated the reflections into the title. I am not sure which came first, the title or the reflections, but whatever it works. Your drops are not in focus. The smaller one in the front is bumpy on the sides. There is a blue haze on both drops (that maybe intentional) that is distracting. I think that if your going to take a picture of a reflection it needs to be in focus as well. Especially on a macro shot. I only see one lamp in focus. The other reflections look so blurry. Overall--I think that your intentions were good but you needed a better set-up for this shot.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck in future challenges, not that you need it because you get pretty good scores!

Green with Envyby JutildaComment: *Critique Club*
I think that this is a great picture. I love how only half of her face is showing. Her eyes look sooo good with her color hair. You did a great job at capturing the detail. My only suggestion would have been to go even closer. Since this was a macro challenge it would have been nice to really zoom on that beautiful green eye with the orange lashes. Cats have great eyes and look really good in macro shots. But like you mentioned, she doesn't like her picture taken, so that probably wasn't possible. Cats can be such Divas!!! Technically, the image is great. I hope this was helpful to you. Good luck in future challenges.

Svetlana in the Bluebonnetsby FlotsamComment: This picture is sooooo good. If she was wearing yellow (to contrast with the flowers) it would really pop! Not that there needs to be any changes at all. You really did a great job here. I am very impressed. |
