Meerschaumby mtreitComment: I really like the lighting and contrast of the bowl.
I"m not sure everyone will 'get' that this is a pipe. It took me a second to figure out what it is. I'd be interested to see it shot landscape instead of portrait and perhaps be able to see inside the pipe bowl. With landscape orientation I might have tried placing the pipe diagonally as well. |

Feeling Smallby sunflowerComment: I dont really see the negative space as being the strength of this shot. The horizon seems "tilted" and the sky is overexposed on the right. |

Picnic’s Cancelledby DiversqComment: I think the subject is the picnic table, so the negative space is the grass around the table which isn't nearly as interesting as the sky. I don't see the sky as "negative space" because it's not what surrounds the subject. |

Beauty in the Gardenby TerryGeeComment: I'm not sure that it's the negative space that makes the wow of the shot. It seems like a standard macro shot to me. Not saying it doesn't qualify but it isn't using the negative space to do something unique or spectacular. |

Confused Cowboyby AczarinaComment: I don't see how this meets the challenge. I don't feel the space around the boy is the strength of your shot. |

Catch the raysby agwrightComment: Wow I can't believe people didn't relate this to the challenge. I gave this a 9. Maybe some people need to turn the brightness up on their monitors. What about the reflection in the glass?? |

Recitalby sherComment: Personally I liked everything about this shot, including the beds others didnt care for. Most children practice their instruments in their bedroom so I found the setting perfect.
I could just see a child practicing away while looking out the window dreaming of his or her recital. This photo told more of a story than any other in the challenge. Personally I think it should have been top 15 easy. :) |
