Occasionally I am inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt. But this photo is so perfect for last week's Ansel Adam's challange and so irrellevant to this one, I must score it low. The only thing 'surreal' about it is that it appears here. It is a pretty photo and would score reasonably well in some other challenge.

A play within a play; a photo within a photo. I suppose this is sometimes what dreams are made of. It's a striking photo. I like the execution of the idea; but it feels a little disconnected to the subconscious.

My Little Angel

I happen to really dislike those little ceramic (or is it plastic?) figurines. Their low production values cheapen everything within about 100 yards. But here, that seems to be the point of the photo; and I like it. In terms of clearing the 'surrealistic' hurdle, I think it does, just. And I like the texture of the fence and the wood behind it.

Okay. This is a really cute snapshot of a really cute baby with a priceless expression. But as a snapshot, the lighting is very unflattering. I find the vertical edge that cuts through the child's forhead quite distracting. And the shot has absolutely nothing to do with the challenge.

It's a fun shot that reminds me of Kafka's Metamorphosis. I dislike the strong green cast, and the fact that pretty much everything seems out of focus.

Gosh, this is a pretty picture. Though it has a 'dreamy' quality it does not have the surrealistic 'unfiltered tap into the subconscious.' There is nothing bizarre or symbolic or nonsensical.
