quentching thirstby redpandaComment: It captures the texture of the elephant very nidely. And his expression. I'm a little unsure the slurping water adds anything. Not that the photographer had any choice in this, but there is somethng about the nature of the background that seems wrong - I think it has to do with the green overpowering the subject. And I wonder whether this would be better in B&W. |

cagedby arlanbartComment: Great Bokeh. I really like the way the wire is used to add structure to the photo. Nice choice to use B&W. |

Cats Napping in The Afternoon Sunby HornOUBetComment: Focus could be a little sharper, especially on those attractive whiskers. (some sharpening would help.) I'm finding the left side of the photo and the bottom (both senses) not to add much, so I wonder whether it might be improved by cropping. I love the three color sensibitlity of the photo. |

Attitudeby C-FoxComment: The old saying seems to be coming true "Cheetah's never prosper." Nice shot of a disappearing breed. |

Shining on in the light of deathby lytaComment: I can say with some confidence that this is among the better photos I've seen of dead mums. The lighting works well, but the photo seems a little cluttered - especially with the leaf in the lower left corner. The subject flowers (based on the title) seem a little less sharply focused than the dead ones. And since our eye is drawn to the white ones, it is always a bit of a disappointment to see them be fuzzy. |

Flightby mpembertonComment: The vignetting in the corners, IMO weakens the photo much. It's not so much the vignetting per se as it is the strong color shift. Perhaps if the photo were rendered in B&W or if some clever channel mixing method had been employed to fix this effect, the photo would be better. I suspect there are a number of other post processing tricks that might pull more fluffy texture out of the clouds and so on. Seems like a good starting point and a bit of a missed opportunity. |

Jump!by RistyzComment: Pay no attention to the guys who object to the noise in th background. This is an exceptional variation on the dandilion shot. Very nice. |

In Her Own Skinby charmayneComment: Great DOF. Nice Colors & Lighting. The expression is quite ambiguous. Slightly pensive, perhaps. There seems to be something missing, a bit, from the photo, don't know what it is.
One might try cropping the photo in such a way as to remove all the background from behind the subject and the top of the head. This focuses our attention on the eyes and lips a bit more, which I think, strengthens the photo. |
