 Went to the Philadelphia Zoo yesterday and eventually met up with phreakon. We shot around mostly in an area with some cranes and other storks. I had been there some time and I had a voice lesson so I had to go. Peacocks, hens and chicks were about the zoo all day. I was hoping that one of the males would spread his tale feathers at some point and just as I was leaving, I saw one in an open field. I scambled to get over there. And then the batteries died...they had been shooting all day. So I put another set in and they were dead as well. I fumbled and put a third set in and ran (read waddled quickly) to get to the peacock. And just as I got close enough, he closed them. I was sort of dejected and I had left my bag on a bench unattended (had the camera, not much else in it of any interest) so I walked away. Then he spread them again and I got closer and took some shots. Then he walked away again with the feathers going down. But he did it one more time. This is from the last set of shots.

I got close enough to where the bird and feathers filled the frame. But there were some background distractions mid and lower left (a chick) and upper right. I did major crop having, I think, enough detail to sustain the image.

Other post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. USM. Lighten shadows (5%) daken highlights (15%) midtown contrasts (+5%). Another layer adjustment for levels. Resize. USM.
