Refracted Rubber Duckieby GolferDDSComment: There is a commonly held myth of something good that 'more is better.' This photo manages to turn that myth on its head. For a year or so I have found the rubber duck to be one of the most photographically unsatisfying objects of common use on this site. I have viewed it as some do litter. Here, however, by duplicating it a hundred times over you have diminished its ills accordingly and you have magically redeemed the object. Nice photo. Good Job. |

Are You A Pricky Voterby PhotoRynoComment: Close: I am a prickly voter. Nice sharp treatment of subject ( appropriately ); and nice blurring of background. |

Æthereal Draperyby riotComment: Very nice take on the matchstick theme. We've been treated to a lot of lit ones, I suppose it is inevitable that we should see some recently extinguished. This sets a pretty high standard for that particular sort of work. |

Cabbage And Carrotsby jrjrComment: Cropped above the carrot, this is by far my favorite photo of cabbage. The crinkles and the many shades of green are quite marvelous. Black background is goo. As for the carrot, IMO that would be a 2 pt deduction if it could not so easily be chopped off the photo, Even if it might have added color or some other quality to the composition, the blown highlignts ( or just about ) is the last thing to include in a photo about texture... Sorry about the rant, I like the cabbage. |

Delicateby fplouffeComment: I rarely think of the tulip in textural terms, but this is a good exception. |

Interiorby jjbeguinComment: There is something in the nature of this lit space that evokes Vermeer's work. I can almost see a young woman standing, facing the window. Or a man with a globe. I think the absence of such characters makes the photo even darker and gloomier that it first appears to be, but certainly no less impactful. |

Focusingby jjbeguinComment: This is a little gem. One starts out by wondering who these people are lined up along the railing, and what it is they are looking at. There is a temptation to believe it is the photographer himself, but those familiar with his work know that he frequently manages to be just about invisible in his picture-taking endeavors. Fequently it is in posing questions great or small rather than answering them that a work makes its mark. What kept my attention is the towering cathedral of light that serves as a backdrop. This is an enchanted space, and it feels like a great priviledge to be invited into it. |
