The Great Oakby Fellow EskimoComment: This is a beautiful tree. The back lighting is wonderful. Perhaps you could have ried adding flash to fill in the color of the tree trunk. Still a great photo. |

Whiskey Glassby MartinKempComment: Interesting background decision. I would not have expected this to work, but it does. Good job. |

rainy daisyby rachelellenComment: I've read a few of the other comments and your post about the shot. And yes, there's a little problem with the background, but honestly, it seems to fit the point of the shot. This is a rainy day picture, so the sun is not bright and the daisy is sitting peacefully in the twilight. I actually think yo could have darkened the one bright area around the petals just a bit to soften the appearance of flash.
It's a good shot and you clearly deserved to move on to the next round.
Congratulations. |

Exclusive Spy Photo! Cheddar Cow Captured!by C_Steve_GComment: Thirty years ago I took a picture of a cow in a field. And ever since then my entire family, especially my mother-in-law, has assumed I have a thing for them. I now have a huge collection of knick-knacks, stuffed animals, pictures, etc.
And my cow wasn't nearly this good.
Great color balance and the bored confidence of the animal rounds out the clever absurdity of being yellow. I like it a lot. you were robbed by the voters. |

LiveStrongby MelethiaComment: Very yellow and very crisp - mostly. The rose, while beautiful does not have as good a focus as your jersey (?). I think to make this shot pop, the rose should be a little brighter and sharper. All in all though this is a pretty shot. I like the subtle contrast between "Strong" and a delicate rose. Nice idea. |

Freshly Paintedby Pug-HComment: OK, I saw your outtakes in the forum before seeing this one - sorry. But I like all three very much. The setting is peaceful and crisp. This shot is not as serene Yellow Bridge II. It's a little brighter, which in this case does not help. On the other hand, the sky and the tree are beautiful and provide excellent balance. You have taken a three wonderful shots. I think this should have finished higher than it did. |

Complementary Flowerby jorrComment: I really like the soft but colorful background. The flower could stand to be a little sharper on the top edge, but that's really hard for me to get so I can't, unfortunately, say how to do it better. Still this is a very pleasing image and meets the challenge very well without being only yellow |

Jammy Timeby timfythetooComment: I like kid shots. Don't worry about always pleasing the DPC crowd - they're a fickle lot. This is a nice shot and a great model. Your background is actually pretty good for being just a wall - good light. He's a little off-focus below the middle, but his smile is really the point of the shot. Nice job. |

Clicheby nards656Comment: Well I like it. There's a reason for cliche's. People like certain things and this type of shot is one of them.
There's a little junk in the glass at the top on the right, and a few curvy areas in the stem and at the very top that probably distracted the voters. The one thing I've noticed about these types of images is that the really good ones are near perfect symmetry. The lines are straight, the sides balance each other perfectly etc. I couldn't do it. But then take a look at my yellow entry, then take this comment with a grain of salt :)
Nice job. |

Yellow IIIby ChinabunComment: Very cool.
I want one of those.
The composition here is great. So are there three lava things? or are you very tricky with mirrors? Honestly the only thing I think you could have improved is the focus on the left.
I'm becoming a big fan of Neat Image and am wondering if it might have helped clean up some of the noise in the yellow areas -not really bad stuff, but it's the only thing along with the focus that I can see to keep this from a really high score. Good job. |
