Night Falls by NovaTigerComment: Hah! Stole Zoomdak's beach right out from under his nose! LOL
Man, that GTG paid off big time didn't it?
I believe an explanation is in order regarding the feather which, apparently was not popular...at all (and yet I still pulled out a blue!) I was experimenting around and seeing how it looked with the feather in the shot. I was browsing through my shots from the GTG and saw this one and decided it might be workable--but did not notice the feather until I opened it up in PS. I decided to gamble and not crop it out (in part because I felt that was a greater evil than leaving it in) and see what it did or didn't do for the image's score. I'm glad it didn't hurt my score too badly!
Holy crap...a blue...I NEVER thought I'd get a blue. NEVER. Yellow maybe (and I did) but then this, and so quickly after my yellow! You could knock me over with a, well, feather!
Thank you all SO much for commenting! I appreciate every chance I get to learn. |

Grok the Darkby MickComment: "....Croiky, and here's the Oregon Zoomdak. Just look at this little bugger! Getting footage of this bloke is really difficult and we're lucky enough to catch him..."

Hmmm...micknewton? Lol. Someone else who used a GTG shot for a challenge! I love it. Nice colors and saturation. |

Squared Rigger by NovaTigerComment: Thanks everyone who commented and those who were supportive of this amateur attempt to show the beauty of tall ships. When I saw my score during the challenge, I was ecstatic: I had shattered my old PR by nearly a whole point! I figured I'd be in the top 10 percent maybe. The yellow is a very pleasant surprise! The sad part is now that I have ribboned, it will be at least a year, I imagine, before I ribbon again! Also, a couple of months from now, when my post-processing skill have improved (the Oregon GTG was phenomenal in helping me develop [pun intended] both and post-processing and photography skills) I will look back at this picture and see a million ways to have improved it, lol! |

Hari Kiri ?by ShutterPugComment: Another sword lover! Let's hope your's does better than mine is. I think t he angle or the way she's holding the, what, kodachi? Wakizashi? could have been done a little better so that it was perhaps a little less subtle. I don't know. I'm no expert on seppuku :) |

Under the Ol' Mac Nut Treeby khrysComment: I'm predicting top, well, certainly 10, but maybe even a ribbon? We'll see. This is an awesome shot. I really like how it's simple and yet my eye was drawn right to it despite being among a bunch of others on the entries overview page. Dang. What a nice capture... |
