Street Bluesby red_geckoComment: Lovely! I like the way that the artificial painted face is the one we can see the detail in whereas the real person is ephemeral and insubstantial. The fluted pillar base to the left is interesting but the way it's cropped out doesn't quite work for me - perhaps because of the vertical set of numbers up it's side and the way they fall so close to the edge of the frame. |

Peaceby thegrandwazooComment: Great portrait and the slight tilt definitely works for this one. |

Lunchby WildcardComment: Lots of vibrant colour and details to look at. Like the framing provided by the two red pillars/ poles. |

City Romanceby AlexSaberiComment: A nice shot though it's a slight strain to make out the people against the bright city lights (and yes, my monitor is calibrated). I still like the shot though. |

~ B E N T ~by gocComment: Interesting low viewpoint but I'm not keen on the rather dull and out-of-focus hedge in the foreground that takes up so much of the frame but provides so little interest. I do like the clarity of detail in the woman - her expression and that interesting basket are quite intriguing. |

Broken Glasses at Mardi Grasby ShotMDComment: Lovely rich toning and nice intimate close up. The whites seem really harsh, especially where there are large blobs on his finger nails and trumpet reflections. Skin detail just lovely. |

Waiting to Dieby Dr.ConfuserComment: Interesting character in a very interesting environment. Although I can see where she's coming from (and really like the two windows behind her) I'm left wondering where she's going to as she's heading straight out of the frame. However, that does work for this shot as it sets up a bit of a questionmark about this anonymous character. |

Orange Sliceby HipychikComment: Wow! Great contrast between main subject and background and yet the textures of the worn and flaking paint have enough interest to hold their own against the vibrant clothing of the main subject. Unusual but works for me. |

Come back soon. by BrookiedComment: Lovely image, very much reminiscent of Cartier-Bresson and his contemporaries. Really like your composition, the viewpoint from which you've chosen to shoot, the depth of field that softens the details of the grand pillared building behind just enough but not too much and, of course, the lone female carrying her shopping home. The fact that she's wearing black is actually crucial to the success of the image as her almost silhouetted form really needs that solidity to balance the strong blacks of the bench. High contrast is just right too. Oh and the wet pavement glistening as well. All good! |
