They're opening a new Blues Club on Pine Avenue in Long Beach. The Poster is one of two on the brick walls outside the future club. I've walked by the wall a number of times and thought it would make a great photo. I finally had my camera with me for once.

Opened NEF in PSCS2 (raw edits: Exposure +.60, Shadows 11, Brightness 71, Contrast +41, Vignetting -68) Adjusted Levels, Unsharp Mask, Cropped, Hue/Saturation - created sepiatone, duplicated layer: adjusted levels, Applied layer Mask creating vignetting effect, Flatten Image, Resized, Saved for Web

Greetings from the Critique Club

My first reaction to this shot is "Smooth!" Great tones, brilliant blur - especially against the sharp focused background - and plenty to look at. For some reason I am drawn to his white sneakers and the patterns in the bag that he is carrying.

Not really sure what else to add here. You have a strong image with great detail and composition. Your editing is clean and your choices were good especially for this challenge. Maybe next time you could call the city ahead of time and see if they could remove the lamp post for you. ;)

Good image, great score and a great showing in placement among some other top notch images. keep up the good work.

Tim

if you had colorized the sign, it would have made all the difference. Still a good shot.

interesting. including the pole makes the composition seem unconsidered to me.

I like the "style" of your shot, really good contrast too.

Lovely! I like the way that the artificial painted face is the one we can see the detail in whereas the real person is ephemeral and insubstantial. The fluted pillar base to the left is interesting but the way it's cropped out doesn't quite work for me - perhaps because of the vertical set of numbers up it's side and the way they fall so close to the edge of the frame.

Love the Billy Holiday mural. Great sense of movement. She's looking to the past, he's moving toward the future. Maybe I'm getting way too symbolic but I truly love this. WAy to go.

Sweet - I like the blurred motion and the way this comes together.

good idea, nice tone and great with the motion blur. maybe perspective or lens correction to straighten the lines a bit?
