I like this, though actually like the abstract you'd get if you cropped in on the pencil and the glass, although it wouldnt show that it was a table out in the garden, I just love the texture of the glass with the green in it. I don't like the fat vertical of the chair.

Is this the same cat as in the entry called "I love pencils"?
I should say straight off that I am not keen on pet photos generally, though not close minded about them. The background seems dark and a little too busy (especially the cloth at the top left). I think the eyes have come out very well and it's great that he/ she is looking right at you. May work better cropped to portrait orientation?

Tufted Titmouse

Impressive to get the bird actually on the pencil, which does bring it more into the shot, although I still find myself thinking, "so it's a pencil instead of a regular stick, so what?". But it's a great photo of the bird, with seed in mouth, and I love the glint in the eye. Would lose the little bits of other pencils at left and right.

Strong, graphical image, wonderful OTT contrast, can really see the texture of the pencil line. Because the verticals and horizontals aren't entirely, it makes me feel a bit sort of twisty in my brain. Er. Do feel free to ask me to elaborate on that. Hmmm it's just gone midnight and it's a weekday, perhaps I should go to bed before I become a pumpkin and review my comment tomorrow? (I did vote when fully awake).

Nice, says a lot more than just a pencil in a crayon box to me. Talks of round pegs in square holes and whether or not one should try and fit into a mould and peer pressure and lots of things. Don't even know if that's what was intended or it is just a pencil in a crayon box. Would score higher if was horizontal within frame.

Interesting to crop the head and focus on hands and paper. Makes it more unusual than a standard "my kid" photo.
