Well, this is just a very, very perfect photo in my opinion, albeit a bit cliche. The way it has been photographed absolutely expresses "NEW" from the drops of water to the tiny, new hairs. Excellent DOF. Excellent photo! I'm giving this a ten!

I don't think this photo is quite perfect technically, but it is a very, VERY good shot, and I am giving it a '10' for creativity. As expected, there are lots of submissions of babies, puppies, new crayons, new flowers, etc., which are good but, again, predictable and a bit (sorry) boring. This photographer obviously went out of his way to REALLY do something 'new' for 'something new'!

What is 'new' here? The books definitely look worn/used. I understand that the photographer is probably showing us 'new' books for the school year, but the subject of the photo does not look new. 'E' for effort though. At least they didn't show a baby, puppy, sunset or flower bud!

This is an interesting shot. A think it's a bit too over-sharpened, as evidenced by the distortion on those metal things between each window. While I think it is a good image, and that the photographer thought out this shot and did a good job, if s/he hadn't put the date of construction in the title, what about the photographer reveals the 'newness' of this? Still, good work.

While I think this is a pretty good photo of an ape (except for the glare to the left of his right eye), I'm sorry, but it has nothing to do with "something new", and putting the word 'new' in the title doesn't change that fact. With all due respects to the photographer, you should have saved this photo for a different challenge.
