First of all, very nice picture. I like it. I like the expression. I like the hand. It is a very well-taken and well composed picture. Congrats.
However, the project was to take a picture of something new. There is nothing new in the picture. You have a clever title, but that was not part of the challenge.

This photo emotionally touches me. The gorilla looks very sad. I interpret the title as a statement that you don't like that the gorilla is caged. Personally, until now I avoided going to the zoo, because I somehow feel that I would support the imprisonment of the animals. And despite there are people who care about them, I think they suffer. Just as an explanation why I am very touched by this photo.
Technically the photo is also above average. The composition is very good. The tight cropping creates a very intimate feeling. Focus and lighting arte also good. Only distracting thing is the glare on the glass between you and the gorilla.

Photo is quite well done....Maybe a bit over sharpened....However, I wouldn't have known why this was being submitted for something new without the title. Therefore, I don't really feel it fits the challenge. :>(

I like the rich texture. Tough to make the connection w/o the title

What a great shot!!! A bit of atretch for the challenge, but funny enough (and probably true enough!) to be reachable. Usually I think a photo should stand on it's own without the title, but I like this.

I understand the title...but the gorilla isn't new, nor does the photo contain anything new. Only the suggestion that he WANTS something new. The feeling here is sadness, or sleepiness, not newness. Setting that aside, it looks like the photo was taken through glass. It is a nice photo of a gorilla, and think that it should be tried for a different challenge, but it's a stretch on weather or not it meets "something new" .

Great shot… This looks like my self portrait :) It really is a great picture, lots of feeling, great composition, great lighting. But, I think the theme is fairly weak… Can't fault the picture itself though… (7)

Very nice picture. Focus is sharp. Lighting is good. THere is a bit of a reflection in the way, but you did an excellent job keeping it small. 7

Do I see some reflection in this picture?

Good animal photo, face. But hard to relate to theme new

good picture, weak on the challenge.

This is a really nice shot, but I don't see the connection to the challenge at all... I'll revisit this later in the week to try and see it again... If you think I'm missing something obvious, please feel free to PM me and let me know... ~ myqyl ~

It looks like there's some kind of flare or reflection on the left side of the face...was this taken through glass? I like the expression on the face...good job :)

Not sure if this fits in the topic (aside from the title). Nice close up though (5).

Good photo, doesn't convey the challenge at all. Would have been much better for the Something Old challenge.

This is a particularly interesting photo... I'm not incredibly impressed with the title, because it is trying to push me into a concept that I would not have been able to draw from the photo otherwise. I would consider this photo to be weak on the challenge topic. - jmsetzler

mmmmm...

While I think this is a pretty good photo of an ape (except for the glare to the left of his right eye), I'm sorry, but it has nothing to do with "something new", and putting the word 'new' in the title doesn't change that fact. With all due respects to the photographer, you should have saved this photo for a different challenge.

only a mother could love great shot

this photo could be really nice, but i can see some reflections in the glass which kinda spoil it :(

WONDERFUL photo...I just don't see the new in this.
