Lovely stark feeling about this shot. The light and framing are excellent and you've captured the mood of a moment very well.

You have a great idea here. I am a really huge fan of black and white, but I think I might have needed some color here. I can't tell if I'm looking at rough plaster, or concrete. My eyes are automatically drawn to the right wall because of the way the boots are facing, so that's why that stands out at me. To me, the window doesn't seem to be the kind of window that would be installed into a new hosue, but I've been wrong before. It doesn't seem like a window that would keep the cold out in the winter. My reasoning behind this is probably only influenced by my location which is known for it's really cold winters. Just as if I were to see a house with a flat roof instead of a peak. I like the photo and think that the idea behind it gets the point across. Congrats and good luck in the challenge.

This is a very nice picture. I like very mutch the composition and the B&W. The contrast of old and new and the boots gives an astonishing contrast. Well done :-)

Powerful image. I like the choice of BW although I'm curious about the natural tones...

New? New? I don't think so. But I do like the the subject.

I just love this shot... not much else I can say.

Something new.
Composition - pretty good
Technical Aspects - pretty good.
Meets Challenge - not obvious. I'll assume so.
Visual Impact / Originality – pretty good

I like this picture...but I'm not getting the something new element. However, I do like the composition of the shot and I like the contrast in the b&w...particularly on the wall. The quality is good also. Good job!

how is this something new?
otherwise, great picture
08/12/2002 05:37:00 PM
Black and white says "old" to me, not "new"
08/12/2002 05:00:00 PM
nice composition. great texture. love the b&w.
08/12/2002 03:00:00 PM
I really like this photograph but I dont see anything that looks new.
08/12/2002 02:06:00 PM
interesting idea and photo. but where's the "new" part...
08/12/2002 12:19:00 PM
I'm not sure I'm getting the "something new" theme here. Unless it's that you're plastering a new wall? Anyway...I like the composition of this. I feel like it needs a little more contrast though. 7 kdjohnson

This is a great shot, and I really want to score it highly. However, it sure doesn't evoke "new" to me. The title does tell me where you are coming from, but .... 5 Jak

Nice composition. Maybe I would've liked it in color.

This doesn't really meet the challenge, in my honest opinion.

Every week I pick a photo from the thumbnails that stands out to me, and start voting by giving it 10, and this is it :). I love the mood in this photo, the textures of the new walls, the way the boots are positioned, and the soft lighting from the window. Very cool! - lisae
