wing5em.jpgby alonzo4bComment: Interesting how the colour version has the angle of the wall stand out more - uncomfortably so. |

Kindred Spiritby gruvinComment: Wow. I'm in shock. 12th place!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments. graphicfunk - I love your portfolio - I'm honoured to receive such a compliment from you. I think I spent more time capturing this shot than any other in the past. Seems it was worth it.
The place is "Whangarei Falls". It's a smallish water fall on the edge of a volcano lava flow (so my Geography teacher told me) in my home town where I grew up.
The water falls into a sort of deepish round "hole" area (40m wide?) leading to some rather nice light/shading effects at times.
It has always been a favourite location of mine. It somehow oozes peace and calmness.
"Waldo" was a fluke. At the time I was frustrated he was in the shot at all and took several, timed to hide him behind the undergrowth as he moved around looking for his own cool photo. I just happened to take the photo within the submission dates for this challenge. I nearly deleted it before I noticed the new challenge title!

Simple Waldoby DiscraftComment: Very clever. As a male I'm resisting bumping the vote up based on Waldo's good looks :) |

Wanna Play Some Hide-n-go-Seek???by taterbugComment: May I suggest you try an experiement. Contrast is an amazing thing where the human brain is concerned. A picture can look perfectly fine. Then you increase the contrast using a photo editing program. Give your eyes a few seconds to adjust, then Undo the change. It never ceases to amaze me how what looked fine just befoe, now looks washed out and the increased contrast version look so very much better. Give it go. Soon, you'll fine yourself increasing the contrast of nearly every image you take - depending on the lighting at least. |

Feeding Her Part Time Petsby fulgentComment: Excellent composition. Contrast could be higher I think, but I like is so much I'm bumping to 10. (Technical schemenical! :P) |

Love Me Tenderby secondglantzComment: A pity the dog doesn't look to be enjoying the hug in this particular shot. Everything else is nice. 7 |
