Trying to go with grainy rough look to stress texture. This is my lovely wife Sheila, at best a reluctant model. I do like the look on her face. I'm unsure about the shadow on her face, seems distracting, but maybe it works in this circumstance. I'm not overall too crazy about this shot, but I often times see people in forums talk about shots they don't like often doing better than ones they do when submitting to challenges, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see, my daughter likes it. Technical wise, used shop lights and white foam board and ceiling as reflectors. In photoshop, cropped, sized, brightness/contrast, curves, sharpen and gaussian blur over that with opacity dropped.

appears to be over-sharpened.

Dude, is this yours? (if you don't know what I mean it ain't you...) We need to get you a new camera for real... Fits the challenge, but it's not all that interesting. Your lighting has left an odd shadow line right down the middle of her face that looks, well, wrong. Your colors are very flat also. Noise and colors are prob only gonna be fixed when ya got a new weapon to point...

I like the verticals, and it doesn't bother me that "waldo" isn't hidden that much. But the focus is off, and the colors are kind of blah. The effect is almost like a screen capture from a 70's tv show, or something.

Hello! I see you! :-)

Concerning this photograph. Two issues which I'd like to comment on. 1) This picture appears to have been cropped originally to a small size, perhaps around 300 pixels on the long edge, and subsequently upsized to 640 pixels, which results in pixelated artifacts in place of fine detail. 2) Colors are very subdued. This might be intentional as it helps somewhat to camoflauge the model in the photo. What may have worked better would be to desaturate and tone the image.

The colors are very drab and there needs to be more focus.

May I suggest you try an experiement. Contrast is an amazing thing where the human brain is concerned. A picture can look perfectly fine. Then you increase the contrast using a photo editing program. Give your eyes a few seconds to adjust, then Undo the change. It never ceases to amaze me how what looked fine just befoe, now looks washed out and the increased contrast version look so very much better. Give it go. Soon, you'll fine yourself increasing the contrast of nearly every image you take - depending on the lighting at least.

Low quality, obvious person. The selective desauration "works" I suppose, but can't save the image.

Try to focus better. This is blurry.
