Instant face lift.by jimsappComment: As you progress in your DPC career, you'll want to pay particular attention to the background of your shots. Here, the lighting on the wall creates an unintended line that isn't quite distracting, but it's not helping very much. The absence of the eyes behind the mask gives an eerie and uncomfortable feel that doesn't go with the smile on the mask or the position of the head tilt. I'm afraid this won't do well, but don't get discouraged. You were on the right track with meeting the challenge; just some technical issues that need working out for next time. |

Stink Eyeby RKTComment: With just an eye, you've evoked emotion and managed to convey the message. Nicely done. This image tells an uncomfortable story in a strong way. |

"Diva Lolita"by swordandsigilComment: This is just some classic work - reminiscent of fine art and really truly super good. The pose is excellent, the pattern in the background is supporting but not detracting from the focal point - this is really excellent stuff here. I love the softness in the processing - the lighting is really really good - I really just love this overall. Good luck in the challenge - I hope to see this on the front page once the challenge is over! |

Batman Beginsby timfythetooComment: Very sweet shot here. I hope it's hanging on the wall in his room! :) Technicals are well done, pose is excellent, and the red sneakers are just the whimsical touch that pulls the whole thing together. Nice work. |

Masqueby Love6Comment: I'm not sure what the black thing in the mouth is, but it's getting lost in the background thus confusing whatever it's purpose was. Good try with the composition...somehow, tho, it's just not grabbing me. The negative space kind of just thunks the viewers eye, and I'm not sure what you intended to convey with it. |

BeMasked, Bothered and Bewilderedby banmornComment: It seems like you could have done a lot more with this idea. It's a fairly uninteresting perspective that lacks drama. There were some great colors in the masks, yet they aren't shown off to advantage with the black background. I suspect your title is reflective of your state of mind rather than being descriptive of the shot. Better luck next time. |

Lady In Waiting by IvoryComment: This is just a simply stunning shot, and I'd be really surprised if it didn't win. Excellent use of interesting subject matter, meets the challenge spot-on, excellent use of toning/color - lots and lots of visual interest. I hope you have this framed and in your house somewhere and in a spot of honor. Really really nice work here; I just don't have enough praise. |

No, really, it's better like this...by raishComment: I sense an attempt at humor here, but unfortunately I'm just not seeing it myself. It looks like you dragged a dining room chair into the bathroom and shoehorned a notebook into mask duty. What on earth the orange skin, the candles, and the silver whatevers in the background are contributing, I'm just not sure. Ordinarily I'd hit this with a 3 and not look back, but I'm in a great mood today and giving one extra point for the benefit of the doubt and another for misguided humor because, hey, I'm not always the wittiest on the Internet either. :) Next time, pay particular attention to the background and how it supports your intended message. |
