Suburb silhouette on foggy morningby trainComment: Challenge: Yup its a sil.
Concept: Seems more a snapshot just to enter.
Composition: Somewhat balanced, but nothing to keep my attention. Too much lost to lower third shadow with nothing adding to the photo from its presence. |

Osprey with chick at Sundownby coolharComment: Concept: Minimalist: Works.
Composition: Well Placed, border does not detract, nor help.
Subject: Is small, not messy considering the next could detract considerably. Sky looks surreal, almost photoshopped, but not out of the range of believable.
Challenge: Yup its a sil.

i'm interestedby benlenzComment: Concept: Unsure, is blurry and what detail is on left is muddled in the shadow.
Composition: Well placed child with emotional expression, but is oof.
Challenge: Cannot see this here. |

Goldieby christie3Comment: Challenge: Not a sil.
Concept: Does not hurt or help.
Composition: Well placed, but seriously hurt by the overexposed background that did not achieve the intended effect. |

Hoping For A Better Tomorrowby muur88Comment: I rally like this image and expect it to do very well, some will harp on the centered highlight or political nature. As a red-blooded American I can't help but love this image and the emotional impact it provides. This is one that should be hanging on many walls. |

Unknownby typologicComment: By far the best interpretation on the challenge. I hope this wins. I wish she did not look like she was wearing a hood, as it would change the mood just slightly, but I cannot critique it. The concept works so well. |

Silhouetted by Powerby lilnukeeComment: Challenge: Not really or so unimportant to the rest of the composition as to be ignored.
Composition: A front and back lit powerstation with dock lights surrounded by black - Reflection is almost not viewable or unnoticeable.
Concept: A closer view of this with more detail in the surrounding might be something worth investigating. Looks to be a tough sell tho with the dock lights and thier extreme luminance.
Overall: Too dark and image to hold an attention span. |

A Drive By: Chain of Rocks Bridge Silhouetteby marmalade1121Comment: Concept: Bridge Sil. Works for challenge, but is hurt by composition.
Composition: Bridge is at top area, emphasizing the water and the top of the bridge is cut off, further lowering its importance. The castles and support structure then become the focus and these are not sil.
Colors: Seem very washed out, hazy giving a snapshot feel to this image. |

Remembranceby TruegshtComment: Composition: Cross is almost centered, losing a lot of artistic potential here.
Challenge: Yup, its a sil.
Concept: Could have had a lot more impact with a different crop and a sky that didn't come off looking like it had been harshly adjusted in PS.
Major Flaw: Lens smear/Sensor dust very close to subject. |

Mothby shutterflyComment: Concept: Interesting Idea that failed in the crop and potentially the curves.
Composition: Subject is well placed, but the colors surrounding it appear to be only shadows, in fact shadows that would have been created by almost inverting the curves within PS.
Subject: Moth is actually thru-lit, not really a sil. |
