thecanyon4me by Brent_WardComment: Although I don't care whether or not this shot is original, I agree that the technical quality isn't that great. For me, the photo doesn't look sharp and there are too many artifacts. It is a great composition and exposure, though, and the majority of voters thought it was the best of the challenge. You should be thrilled with that. Just my 2 cents...
Originally posted by anusaha: This is not original at all. I thought the image looked familiar...I used to have this as a background back in high school. A quick image search confirmed this is an over-photographed site. Originality aside, I can't say I'm impressed by the technical quality either.

Samoa Pulp Mill by bryanbrazilComment: Glad you like it...I always take a lot of photos whenever I go home to visit, as I now live out of the area.

Samoa Pulp Mill by bryanbrazilComment: There really wasn't much wind. I think smoke came out of the large stack with much greater force than the other stacks, causing the smoke to go straight up. Smoke from the other stacks seemed like it just floated around.
Originally posted by theSaj: Okay, how the heck did you get the smoke on the left to bellow inward, the smoke on the right to also bellow inward. And the center stack to bellow it's smoke straight up!!!!
That's like near impossible without a cyclone....*lol* |

Misty Morningby bryanbrazilComment: I wish I could've shown the entire falls, but this is Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park and the top of the falls is about 100 feet up in the sun!
Originally posted by srdanz: Beautiful! One of better waterfalls/waterflows in the challenge. The composition is excellent. The only thing I may recommend is showing where the water comes from - the very top-right corner of the photo has the water falling from the sky and perhaps showing another ~50 pixels (in current resolution) would have been better. |
