Snack-Time Kids!by wickedpeteComment: Having read the challenge description, I am certainly aware that "things you might see at the zoo" are viable shots for this challenge. Even so, I'm much more inclined to vote favorably on kids and/or animal photos... however yours is a fabulous exception and I'm glad to vote it a 9.
As for the photo itself, besides the obvious (color, focus, exposure) what I like so much is the composition, for example, the way the deep red of the watermellon starts and ends in the all-white areas of the plate and then the background. Also like the blue/white checkerboard being used to frame the shot. Bravo! |

Dad & Daughters by roadrunnerComment: Good for you Kelly! Your talent is undeniable, and your modesty and little-girl excitement at winning are so refreshing. I ranked this shot as an *8* and think you absolutely deserve the Blue Ribbon. Congrats! |

Retiredby kongphooeyComment: Great POV.... looks like you must've been in a dinghy?! Great subtle color, exquisitely lit, very well composed. Bump to (9), good luck! |

Going My Wayby bucketComment: Unlike some here, I'm a sucker for kid shots. She sure does fit the challenge, and I like the portrait a lot. Could be even better IMO if she were shifted a bit right (mine not hers), and I also would prefer to see her feet included in the shot. (7) Bumping to (8) on second pass.... I just LIKE this photo! |

N/Aby gaurawaComment: Awesome macro, I am sure I'm not the only one to wonder if you didn't accidentally enter this in the wrong category. Either way, a fabulous shot! |

The Getawayby CoozComment: Oh wow, beautiful! I like the b/w, seems very appropriate with the strong geometrical elements and wonderfully dramatic lighting. The light is awesome, especially her hand being lit and her face peering back into the darkness she's 'escaping'. All parents have seen this look as the toddler scoots for freedom, very universal. Absolutely a 10, and my pick for blue so far. |
