Congratulations, Curt, on your highest rating image so far. I'm very pleased to see that several other commentators applauded your quirky but effective use of light in this photograph. I just took a look at your profile, and I love all of your top three entries; this was not a fluke! I encourage all other browsers to take a look as well.

A very fine image. Love the composition and the unusual light. Exceptional tonal range from deep black to pure white, with clean, visible detail at every point (I peeked at the histogram; it's weird lookin'). And of course the subject escapee is brilliant for this challenge. 9

Independent little two year old, eh? Your photo gives the impression that she is totally alone, without supervision, making a successful getaway. I like how she's leaving the frame, too.

Intriguing, especially with her face hidden in the shadow ... yet that works as it makes it more anonymous and therefore more universal. I like the diagonal and the unusual lighting. 8

Nice concept. It's ashame that the child is lost in the shadows.

Beautiful lighting and composition. The lines in this image are strong. I would've loved to see the child looking up to convey the independance of being able to walk to the top but I know how hard it is to have children obey!! ;-) 9

I like this shot and the whole idea, I just think it could have been more evenly lit as the bright wall beneath the stairs really screams out for attention so you donĀ“t quite notice the baby straight away. One of the better shots in the challenge, I gave it a 7.

Oh wow, beautiful! I like the b/w, seems very appropriate with the strong geometrical elements and wonderfully dramatic lighting. The light is awesome, especially her hand being lit and her face peering back into the darkness she's 'escaping'. All parents have seen this look as the toddler scoots for freedom, very universal. Absolutely a 10, and my pick for blue so far.

Since I am lacking in technical skills, I cannot give helpful comments. I am strictly a photo buff who is trying to improve, but as to telling you what is wrong or right, I am in no position to say. I am simply voting based on whether I like the picture or not. Sorry, maybe someday I will be able to give helpful advice

Use of light is outstanding in this image,as well as the texture on the wall,...8

The lighting and texture are superb. Framing is super. Ordinarily I would wish to see the subject's face just a little better; but somehow, the fact that we see both hands so well makes up for it.

This is a very strong image. Good use of lines, and the lighting on the hand on the stairs is just perfect. Crisp and clean, very well done.

HEE HEE Fun use of light. I like the shadows on the iron work with the light on the single hand and the fingertips of the other. This is very visually pleasing. Great composition.
