LanSnakeComment: Thanks for your comments! Thought I'd add several of my possible interpretations of this image, since there was some confusion as to how this image might represent Fear. My original fear idea was to show someone taking a shortcut through the cemetery, just as it was getting dark. While taking test photographs in the cemetery on the Fourth of July, I took this photo (wayward son).
I loved the color of the sky in the photo and the position of the setting sun, but could this be a fear entry? Then I thought about the possible title wayward son and liked the many interpretations this presented. [Disclaimer: none of these interpretations represent my personal views on religion.]
1. The original idea still works, although not obvious. Someone's son (the face on the left) is taking a shortcut through the cemetery, and looks up to see the setting sun. Maybe they are thinking Oh no, I better hurry home before it is dark!.
2. I think many people found a more symbolic interpretation. Someone is fearful that their son (the face on the left) is turning away from religion (they are facing the cross, but the sun is setting on this image -- i.e., they are losing their faith).
Although it has nothing to do with fear, I also liked the play on the word son. The face on the left could represent someone's son, the cross represents the Son of God, and the sun is setting on the right -- three representations of son/sun -- parallel the idea of trinity in Christian religion? (ok, now I'm stretching.....) ;-)
