My son allowed this alligator to nibble his only toes just so I could snap the photo!

A bit of vaseline made the alligator head shine as if stil alive. We used a snake light for the highlight source.

I tried lighting this from behind more, but the edges of the preserved gator head showed. I'd appreciate any other lighting tips I can get! The head was massaged with vaseline to get an "alive" sheen. The head came from a shop in the keys. The foot belongs to my son. If you are considering blood: red food coloring in corn syrup looks more realistic than ketchup.

Very well done, and believable.

I think I recognize those toes..........

i bet you got this head in a voodoo shop in new orleans. this could be a good shot but i dont think that the illumination is particularly interesting or flattering. looks like straight on camera flash, which is rarely appealing. try some different lighting. mag 99

I like the black background. Maybe needs a little more space at the bottom. It seems cropped a little too close.

Extra credit for the cute title.

Excellent! Even if it is a dried out, small aligator head. Maybe a bit overly dark, considering the darkness of the aligator's head. Sharp focus and good DOF.

A little blood (ketchup) couldn't livened things up a bit.

too comfortable for fear......

Ouch! That thing could hurt dead or alive.

It really would be frightening if this were real. Still it works in a humorous sort of way.

I like this photo. It's a fun fear submission. It might have been a little nicer if there was a little more light on the background so that the croc's head wouldn't blend into it. Also, the flash tended to wash out your colors a little. If you were to add a little saturation it would have given it a little more visual punch. Shey.

LOL Not sure what is scarier, the reptile or the ugly foot!
07/08/2002 02:09:00 PM
Good one--four toes left!
07/08/2002 12:48:00 PM
Take a look at that!

lol Fun, funny shot. Good humor work. That would count as one of my fears....of course 'Steve' wouldn't mind it. :) Good work!! Kee

I like this photo but I don't think it actually shows fear. It shows something to perhaps be afraid of.
07/08/2002 11:50:00 AM
cool! : )

Nice shot, maybe some ketchup could have been used? 5
