Cracked Bubblesby WillaComment: very interesting. I first rated this a 6 in my first run through. Now, as I take a closer look - there is much more technique here. I like the lighting/direction. I like the exposure - different, but good. This is a well executed photo - with thought and effort put into it. Great work 8 Ruthann |

Grandma's lamp, 1918by Frank BeckmanComment: This is not working. I'm going to be frank and to the point. It's pretty dull - the lighting definately needs work. The straight-on shot needs to be changed - try a different angle. Personally, I would take one aspect of the lamp - say the woman or the handles, and try to emphasize it. I'm not sure that a black background is ideal for this. I am in no way trying to offend - the best thing is to keep working at it - and take comments with a grain of salt - face value. 3 Ruthann |

Old Dear Friendby jsabbartonComment: Cute picture. and I like the old stuffed dolls that we hang on to. I'm being frank in my comments - not to offend. I think there are a few things that I would do to make this more effective. 1-different placement (not right in the middle) 2. a different angle 3-Lighting - the lighting , for me, is what is really throwing this off a little. The idea and subject are great. some of the photographic details need a little alterations. This is only my opinion. Still great work 6 Ruthann |

Violinby cq107Comment: I think this is a very nice photo. I love the fact that you can see the texture/grain of the wood. Very nice composition and angle. Perhaps just a touch too much contrast/sharpening (could very well be me, though). Great work!!! 9 Ruthann |

Pier Chainby KazComment: Excellent. I like the DOF in this. Great texture (although 2 challenges ago). The coloring/lighting is also very effective - as well as the composition. 9 Ruthann |

passengerby CheetahComment: Great shot. OK, I have to ask - did you tilt the camera or is the train tilted? I like that effect. Wonder if you could crop it just a little more to leave just a little of the doorway sides visible, but may not have same effect or image size. This image is thought provoking. What went on there?...Who was there? I get the sense that maybe some event occured. Has a sense of mystic. Good work. 8 Ruthann |

Things of Grandma Brown, 1876 - 1966by jimsappComment: Nice photo and idea. I'm being very frank in my comments - not to offend. I think there are several things that would make this more effective. A different angle and more importantly, a tighter crop. If it's going to be right in the middle, then crop it to take out the space. If you leave the space, then use the rule of 3rds. I think that the white balance is off - the white is very grey. This is my opinion - not to offend 5 Ruthann |

Generations Pastby vonnie1956Comment: This is a decent photo. I'm being very frank in my comments - not to offend. This isn't doing much for me. It seems too constructed. There isn't one thing that really stands out, or focuses in on. I think that maybe a different DOF with a slightly different arrangement may be more effective. Although, I do like the golden touch of the yellow key and tassle - but I almost missed the fact that it is golden. All in all nice photo - 7 Ruthann |

78 rpmby floydComment: GREAT! Great lighting, focus, and mostly the cropping! I love the way the photo displays the different textures of the album. Great work. Is this in b/w or color...if this is the color version,,,then this is truly a great photo!! (Even if in b/w, it's still good) 9 Ruthann |
