These playgrounds are so different now than they were when I was a kid. We used to actually be able to hurt ourselves in ways that required a tetanus shot afterwards! It's all because of lawsuits and insurance costs, I guess. Anyway, this is kind of a sad indictment of "childhood" to me, I'd rather see kids climb trees than play in there!

Childhood Obsession

I understand this photo because I was horse mad too, but the composition is a bit clumsy to me. The horses' heads merge in a way that might be touching in a closeup, but since the neck fades out on the painting it's just a bit confusing.

I love this one! The colours and shapes evoke childhood without being really blatant. I loved cutting and folding paper as a kid, so it really appeals to me. The composition is beautiful.

That's so pretty! I love the lighting in this shot. I don't care about the overexposure in the window, it works for me. It gives you a real sense of the perspective of a child.

There seems to be a subtle relationship between these two. I like that a lot. I also really like the textures of the paper and charcoal, and the dark shadow. Very atmospheric.
