Midnight Streakby jegerComment: A terrific concept and sound execution the difference between the streaking train and linear rails are striking and unique. The highlights are right on the edge which is a positive. It is interesting that there is great detail in the light which is different. A good solid entry into the challenge and a potential top twenty image. |

All Aboooard!!!by dcanossaComment: A compelling image, the gentle tone shift and color cast is a brilliant choice to match the detailed subject matter. The gentle shift in tone from the subject to the sky is excellant and the slightly different angle is unique and very effective. This is a ribbon winner and possibly a blue ribbon - an extremely effective image. Well done. |

Abandonedby TownleyComment: While a unique look at the ravages of age on machinery, this image is much to bland to be an effective presentation. A little more thought as to background, shooting angle and proper color and background control would have made this image powerful, intense and dramatic which the subject matter certainly deserves. While a good image from a concept standpoint, and it does match the challenge, it falls short of a really good effort. |

Sky Lineby delinComment: A very good concept and a very good image. The sky seems a little over saturated creating a little less dramatic presence to match the chrome and detail of the rail car. Looking at this a third time, this reviewer was attempting to determine if there was an oversharpened condition, but apparently that's not the issue with the jagged lines seen along the rail car. That is a production artifact due to compression loss and as such should not count against the image. A very worthy entry into the challenge. |

Hudson Lineby DiamondPeteComment: Good DOF control, the color definition is good and the subject is different. Unfortunately, it seems a little flat and not totally appealing to the eye. It certainly approaches being an artistic success as well as a technical success, the image is just one of those images that needs something and that something cannot be specified. Having said that, it is a worthy entry into the challange and depending on other reviews, would be considered a top 30 image. |

Train station Crawford Notch NH.by WoodwardComment: Crisp and sharp, this image could have used a little bit more saturation to really make the colors pop. A nice dramatic sky set against the ridge line is a definite plus. The sense of proportion is excellant and well developed. A little more work on this using tone mapping would make it a very saleable image. A very worthy entry into the challenge and a potential top twenty image. |

Pulling in to the Stationby WriteHeartComment: The interesting combination of straight rail and architectural curves makes for a very pleasing image. The angle of the rail is unigue and something that is very much out of the ordinary providing a senes of depth and dimention not often seen in images like that. Good DOF control and almost perfect lighting. The background could be a little sharper, but it works as it is. A good solid entry into the challenge - both a technical and artistic success. Well done. |

The Face of Old Blue...by 777STANComment: Just one little tiny white space above the right side of the image is a minor flaw in an otherwise moody and purposeful image. The color is a very interesting shade of blue that one doesn't often see - a kind of Williamsburg Blue and some of the slight color changes are very effective. A good solid entry into the challenge. |

Rusty Pathby jean_mucComment: A different and very interesting look at the infrastructure that trains run on. The DOF is well controlled, but a more compelling image might have been less extreme providing depth and dimension without hurting the concept. Good lighting and color control - the image is crisp and sharp. A solid entry into the challenge. |

Urban Freight Corridorby davidwComment: A great concept and a near perfect capture. The lighting could have been a little softer, but as it is, it works well. Again,, use of bokeh would have helped this image with the addition of a little vagueness in the background would have lifted this image out of above average rating. This needs to have more interest to be truly effective. A good solid entry into the challenge and a different look and perspective of the challenge subject. |
