Ginkgoby banmornComment by pineapple: One of the oldest known trees of which fossils have been found. It is of the conifer family. Ginkgo biloba leaves are boiled and used as an inhalant to reduce the symptoms related to colds and flu. On a good day, light shining through the leaves is wonderfully golden. I think you had an overcast day there.. |

Seeds and Leavesby banmornComment by pineapple: One of the most colourful of trees in the autumn. Liquidambar (the Latin scientific name) or Redgum or Sweetgum. In the USA, it grows to 100 foot tall, is the second most important hardwood lumber tree, after oak, and was the source of an early type of chewing gum (hence the common name). The seed pods are pretty. |
