One of the most colourful of trees in the autumn. Liquidambar (the Latin scientific name) or Redgum or Sweetgum. In the USA, it grows to 100 foot tall, is the second most important hardwood lumber tree, after oak, and was the source of an early type of chewing gum (hence the common name). The seed pods are pretty.
