Ribbon Chaosby socalsteveComment by Charlene: I like everything except the yellow coming closer to me than the other ribbons. Nicely done otherwise though. |

Macro Day 14by socalsteveComment by JMart: The parts in the focal plane look delicious, particularly since I forgot to grab dinner. The parts out of the focal plane we'll blame on the difficulties of reversing the 50mm. I'm curious what length the close-up lens is. |

Macro Day 15by socalsteveComment by JMart: Interesting blacklight effect and good detail too. This would also be an interesting effect with a blown dandelion. |

Macro Day 13by socalsteveComment by MelonMusketeer: Nice subject and great color. You can find out if the curve in the field of focus goes concave or convex from the plane of the camera sensor by making a series of marks on heavy paper, like a UPC symbol, and bending it in front of the lens. You may then be able to use that info to help select things with a curve in them that will be sharp from side to side in your reversed 50 images. You will likely find that the curve of the focus field is on a radius from a point inside the lens. You can also use the focus fall off at the edges to shoot dreamy scenes that look good with the softness at the edges.
ETA, Congrats on your son getting the badge. It's good that you take time to help him with his scouting. Message edited by author 2008-03-15 01:49:37. |
