Beautiful! I would love to see this when the brash is not so centered, but yet, a great work.

Very nice, inspired but unique. I like the color chosen but the shadows on from the brush handle are a bit distracting. A 9

It's a real shame a work of refined art of this calibre goes unrecognized by the DPC voting community. A score of 5.125 is simply offensive. I think people are voting on this site as if it's a game of Halo. The lines are subtle yet suggestive and originally composed. It effuses a delicate lover's after morning glow which unfortunately got trampled by a mindless voting mob.

I'm surprised this one didn't score higher. I can only hope it's that people didn't pick up on the February/Valentines Day (love and romance) theme and not because of the daring subject matter of this photo. The 16 one scores you received are more of a reflection on the tastes and mentalities of those who voted them, rather than on your well-composed photo.

Hey, this is a great photo!

My only quibble is with your use of the term "traditional" in the liner notes, as this is a work which can be directly attributed to a single person, John Newton, and composed under such circumstances as to add even greater depth and realism than might be suspected from the "usual" Christian imagery alone. Bill Moyers devoted an entire 90 minute TV program to exploring its meaning to various people.

John, I just got back to look at your Calendar entry - I only wrote a brief comment because I found it hard to define my appreciation so here goes : your image displays an amazing balance on many levels ; the intimacy is intense without being pornographic ; the view is revealing without feeling voyeuristic ; there is an evenness in the eroticism ; the textures vary from smooth to shiny ; the lighting is soft and yet revealing - again, this photo has been amazing me in its balancing act - I wanted to add my comment not in response to some of the unwarranted low votes you got but rather because there are few photos that end up standing out irrespective of the challenge theme and this most certainly is one of them

Reminds me more of DuChamp's "Nude Descending a Staircase" than any Impressionist work. Don't get me wrong, I like this, but it just doesn't say anything Impressionistic to me. The motion blur here conveys an idea of fluid motion, a series of moments captured in one frame, rather than the deconstruction of a moment of light into fragments of color.
