As the clouds of war gather once more: We WILL remember themby Delta_6Comment by PTLParsons: You seem to have 2 subject here, the penacle and the eternal flame. The flame being in front appears to be your choice of subjects. But the people take your eyes to the penacle. I find myself going from one to the other, back and forth. I get the sense of a struggle for top dog in the photo. Maybe someone else feels this way too and can explain it better. Don't get me wrong it's a good photo otherwise. Maybe taken from another angle, one which eliminates the people. Just my thoughts PTL5 |

As the clouds of war gather once more: We WILL remember themby Delta_6Comment by johnny_justjohnny: could you maybe have crept up to the fencing and taken the picture without its bars blocking the words? so that the rectangle started with the L in LET and ended with the G in OFFERING, you know? heck i bet you paced it out and lined it up just so, should trust your judgement, could no more have uprooted the bars than you could've moved the clouds away for a sunnier landscape. then again overcast might be where it's at for this contemplative picture. seven. |

As the clouds of war gather once more: We WILL remember themby Delta_6Comment by myqyl: Composition ~ It may be an illusion, but the horizon seems slanted to the right a bit. Also the railing is distracting (both the front rail blocking the words and the back rail cutting the people). I know this will sound off the wall, but if you could have raised your camera 1 meter (about 3 feet) higher in the air and aimed down, this would have gone from a very nice snapshot to a powerful image (in my opinion). Possibly as little as holding your camera an arms length above your head and shotting. It takes a bit of practice to frame the shot that way, but it can really be worth it. I love the school children 'touring' in the background... You caught them at a perfect moment... ~ Exposure ~ I like the light overcast days produce and this shot took full advantage of it. Well done... ~ Focus ~ Well done... ~ Challenge ~ I have no problem imagining this in a publication... Well done! ~ Myqyl ~ |
