Grounded, Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by pineapple: The small view, the personal perspective on the world, a shared intimacy, and a little vulnerability is what you teach me here. Do not be afraid to share that type of view or make collections of them. They comprise our world, after all. |

Grounded, Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by colorcarnival: omg I am one of those horrible speed voters because if I was going too fast, I certainly would have missed the goose in the background. How cool is this? I was totally focused on how the tree looks like a clay sculpture. I guess I think because of the gray textures. And then I saw the bird. Very cool indeed. |

Rivalsby Bruce_the_RobertComment by Melethia: Very nice capture - I like the interplay between the geese and the simple but effective reflections at the top to "ground" the framing. |

Rivalsby Bruce_the_RobertComment by Lydia: Perhaps if the stick and wire were cropped out this would give more attention to the beautiful geese and their reflections. |

Grounded, Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by SandyP: What reaches out and grabs me about this is the unusual shape of that branch -- it draws you in and makes you want to look closer. Then when you look, you get the delightful unexpected surprise of the goose's neck and head. I love it! This is awesome.

Rivalsby Bruce_the_RobertComment by faery: Very tranquil - I like the way the foreground water almost becomes sky without any ripples.... |

Rivalsby Bruce_the_RobertComment by bimble: The shot itself I quite like. Then I read the caption, and in my mind it really improves the shot, making me look back at it in a completely new context. well done! |

Lone Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by Melethia: You see isolation, I see grace and elegance and the beauty of form. Purposefulness, even. Tones are lovely and that splash of cloud adds a lovely depth and texture. |

Grounded, Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by Melethia: The bird is a quiet surprise when one opens the shot from the thumbnail. It's a hint of a bird, not the bird itself (though yes, I realize the bird is really there). I do think something you did oversharpened the tree a tad but I'm of the less sharpening mindset to begin with so feel free to ignore this last bit. |

Lone Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment by purpleflutterby13: I love the expanding sense of possibilities present in this picture. It's something about the way the bird is going upwards. And you're right, detail shouldn't be required to appreciate the message of this... To me, what the bird is saying is: "I am alone. And I am free. I'm a master of my own destiny. And there's an expanse of sky ahead, to fly through as I choose, as far as my wings will carry me."
The simplicity of the image makes the message both clear and powerful. |
