Very interesting moving from a thumbnail in which only the blurry hint of an image in a black square to a larger version in which the beak and eyes are sharp and the rest of the bird is defined well enough to be separate from the background (which is blurry, in fact). Very original contribution to the challenge, and a great image too.

Too dark??? No stinkin' way. This is sooo fab. As good as any deer shot you've ever done (and they are fabulous). I tried to capture some blackbirds the other day and just didn't come close. This is fantastic. Going to favs.

i love dark .. and i particularly love things that arent immediately obvious .. so this satisfies both .. i'm thinking edgar allen poe or some poem about a raven which i cant remember right now .. something about 'quoth the raven' .. all very dark and atmospheric .. love this image ... :)

I like the dark on dark, there is just enough separation from the back ground. I think it should be a challenge. :)

Disturbing image. The DOF was a good choice for attenuating the harsh feeling this picture could show. All around is ugly but very well composed. Even the colors was a good choice.
