This is a brilliant image ... up to half way through the dark cloud. Everything above that is superflous and takes the eye out of the image.

Lots of images within this to ponder; the bridge to the bright city centre, the single soul heading toward the bridge away from the dark old part of town, the framing by shadows, and even the frame itself, which I think works to emphasize the dark to light transition.

I think both the play between light and shadow areas, and the little puddles at the bottom right, accentuate the feeling of loneliness. Beautiful!

I often wish I could spend a year in a city, or at least a few weeks, to at least have a chance at making some shots like yours :(
